Accent daffodils are a type of large-cupped daffodil with creamy white petals and a ruffled cup in the centre that starts off a soft salmon-pink and becomes deeper in colour. They usually flower in mid to late spring and grow to around 16–18 inches tall. They do best in sunny or partly shaded areas and prefer soil that drains well. These daffodils need moderate watering while they are growing but shouldn’t be left sitting in soggy ground. Accent daffodils are great for garden beds, borders, containers, or even naturalising in grass or woodland areas. They also make excellent cut flowers. They attract pollinators like bees but are avoided by deer and rodents. They are hardy plants that come back each year, often spreading over time. To grow them successfully, plant the bulbs in autumn, a few inches deep and spaced apart, and let the leaves die back naturally after flowering to help them grow again the following year.
