June in the garden

Posted by:

It’s fair to say that our gardens have finally started to look like a garden during June, even more so with the weather we are having! The rain today seems to have brought the slugs and snails out in force (don’t forget we sell some products to help with that) there are also lots of organic and natural ways, such as broken egg shells and pints of beer (if you can bear to spare - check out our gift shop for a delicious St Austell Brewery Ale or 3!) to try and help the onslaught.

Don’t forget you can still plant potatoes, a good way of spreading your crop through the year. Beetroot, Brussels sprouts, carrots, onions, lettuce and peas can all be put in now as well (check out our selection if you don’t have your own seedlings waiting in the wings).

There is also every possibility that you will be harvesting your first strawberries, enjoy, there is no taste quite like it! Make sure you have some good bird netting to keep the unwanted dinner guests out.
