Love Legumes
When it comes to crop rotation in your vegetable patch few plants bring greater benefits than the legume family. These clever plants absorb nitrogen from the air and deposit it into the soil making them great for enriching the soil before planting hungry feeders such as root vegetables or brassicas. What’s more, legumes are typically a low GI food; low in fat and high in protein placing them firmly on the healthy foods register.
Yummy Pea Shoots
Plant a few extra pea plants and harvest the pea shoots as a delicious addition to summer salads. Snip off the new shoots, tendrils and top set of leaves once they are around 8 inches high. Continue harvesting every few weeks throughout the growing season yummy!
